Qatar Airways Pet Policy

Qatar Airways is the country's state-owned flag carrier. They allow up to six falcons per passenger in the economy part of an airplane's cabin. Falcons and service/support animals are allowed to ride in economy class on Qatar Airways. It is essential to be informed of the airline's individual pet regulations in order to fully comprehend the requirements and plan for your pet's safe and enjoyable flight (s). Service and Emotional Support Animals

According to Qatar Airways' policies, each passenger will be allowed one service or emotional support (comfort) dog on board. To aid impaired travellers, service canines must be trained (sight, hearing, seizures, etc.)

Only Qatar Airways flights to or from Australia, Brazil, Canada, the EU, Georgia, India, Norway, Switzerland, and the United States allow service dogs or emotional support dogs to travel free in the cabin. They may travel as checked luggage for free on all other flights.

If you're travelling with a service or emotional support (comfort) dog, you must notify Qatar Airways at least 48 hours ahead of time. You must give your dog pet pads or other absorbent material. Harnesses for safety are advised.

Emotional support (comfort) dog owners must present recent paperwork on the letterhead of a registered medical professional verifying the necessity for your pet to be with you. The letter should include licensing information.

Qatar Airways Checked Baggage Pet Policy

If your pet is too large to fit beneath the seat, is not a dog or cat, or if the journey is exceptionally long, American may transport your pet in the cargo area of the plane, according to company limitations. The temperature and pressure in this area of the cargo department are identical to those in the passenger cabin.

Pets Allowed

Dogs or cats, livestock, tropical fish, small mammals, and birds are all allowed to travel as checked baggage. There is no limit to the number of dogs that can fly as extra baggage, however depending on the aircraft type, there may be weight or capacity restrictions. Mice, rats, marmots, and rabbits are not permitted as checked luggage, however they will be accepted as air freight.

Qatar Airways Manifest (Air) Cargo Pet Policy

If your pet is travelling alone, is exceptionally large, or Qatar Airways would not allow it to fly in the cabin or as checked baggage, it can be transported as air cargo. This service is managed by the airline's freight department. Qatar Airways encourages moving your pet as air cargo during the hotter months (May-October).

Qatar Airways Pet Policy - Carrier Guidelines

Containers for pets travelling in the hold must be well-ventilated, large enough to prevent escape, and robust enough to prevent escape. For your pet's voyage, you must provide food and water. Small carriers should be no bigger than 69" (175 cm), medium carriers should be no bigger than 85" (217 cm), and large carriers should be no bigger than 96" (217 cm) (245 cm). Exotic and Persian (Shirazi) cats; Greyhound dogs (except for pets); Affenpinscher, Pugs, American Pit Bull Terrier, Bichon Frise, Bull dog (all breeds), Boston Terrier, Boxer, Brussels Griffon, Bull Mastiff (English Mastiff) Cane Corso, King Charles Spaniel, Chow Chow, Dogo Argentino, Dogue de Bordeaux (French Mastiff) English Mastiff, Neapolitan Mast They also refuse to accept primates in study, animals younger than 12 weeks, frail animals, female animals with suckling young, and cats or dogs more than 6 weeks pregnant. Rodents (mice, rats, marmots, and rabbits) are not allowed as checked luggage, although they may be allowed to travel as freight.

Qatar Airways Pet Policy - Other Requirements

On the day of travel

  • Arrive at the airport at least 1 hour ahead of check-in time.
  • You'll need to produce original copies of the relevant papers when you check in and when you arrive at your destination.
  • Throughout the trip, your assistance dog must be securely fastened or leashed.

During the flight

  • Smaller dogs may sit on your lap, but they must always be securely tethered or leashed.
  • Larger dogs must be securely tethered or leashed and sat by your feet at all times.
  • You must follow the airline's health and sanitation regulations, particularly if your dog wants to relieve itself.
  • Your dog is not permitted to impede the aisle or any other place.
